I have such fond memories of Venice.
One second you are in the hustle and bustle of tourists and shops and the next you turn down a small alley to find a quiet restaurant tucked into a courtyard waiting for you.
No cars in sight, completely lost on the colorful pathways, stopping for house wine with pizza and cicchetti anytime we’d like. We aimlessly toured all of Venice on foot and even jumped on a boat for a tour with a local Murano Master glassblower by chance after asking him to take our picture.
Eat:
Trattoria Ca D’Oro is perfect to swing by for a quick snack or “cicchetti” and some wine before continuing your walk. Check out the cicchett photos below.
The local gem Al Timon was our lucky find, listed as “good for drinks” in Lonely Planet, was actually a truly a fabulous restaurant! All locals, family run business, with a Chateaubriand that is worth the trip alone and adorable outdoor seating area. This place made our trip. In my daydreams I’m sipping a crisp glass of white wine next to the canal behind Al Timon.
Tip:
Make sure you steer clear of any restaurants that write their menus in ‘all English’ for you, have Margherita in the name, or seem super touristy. We walked out of multiple so we wouldn’t lose precious hours to expensive tourist traps. Best decision ever.
